Answer One Of The Following Question 3

I’m working on a sociology writing question and need support to help me study.

You can write your term paper on one of two topics (and one topic gives you a choice):

a) “I side with the Communitarians/I side with the Libertarians” (pick a side in their debate over the role of the Individual in Society, you don’t have to agree with them on everything, but argue why you lean toward them). Yes, “this is your opinion,” but it’s also academic work. Cite things they have written, and their ideas, and why you think they offer a better view of the individual’s role in society. And they have written plenty of stuff besides just what’s in our Readers. Ask a librarian if you need help.

b) The individual in society in X (X being a culture, nation, or society other than the U.S., could even be historical rather than modern). For example, “The Individual in Society in Japan” or “The Individual in Society in Viking Culture”. Discuss the individual-society relationship in the society you are researching/writing about. Do you think this society is/was more individualist or collectivist, and why? What historical, ecological, etc. forces made it that way?

6-8 pages requested, double spaced, bibliography needed, can cite Libertarian Party and Communitarian Network websites which we’ve seen in class, also the two class Readers, but should use other sources. I require three other academic sources besides our course textbooks or lectures. Cover page requested with name/topic of paper/date of submission, citation system can be MLA, footnotes, or any system which is clear and consistent.

The term paper is worth 50 points. 10 for format (spelling, punctuation, grammar, capitalization, etc.) and 40 for content, 50 pts. total.
