Discussion Question 2679

Our discussion of Dante’s Inferno drew on Prof. Ian Johnston’s assertion that the work “is seriously deficient” in philosophical terms, that its ideas “are an essential part of the poem’s structure and vision, but no one would ever claim these concepts find an adequate logical justification in this work.” Now that you’ve seen all nine circles of the Inferno, would you agree with Prof. Johnston? Why or why not?
