Ethical Considerations

Identify three ethical considerations and discuss how these can impact the implementation of the change project

Reading and Resources

Read Chapters 4-6 In Marquis, B.L. & Huston, C.J. (2017). Leadership roles and management functions in nursing: Theory and application (9th ed.). Philadelphia, PA: Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins

  1. Identifies three ethical considerations and discusses how these can impact the implementation of the change project
  2. (I work in an chemotherapy infusion center where we recently started using a new system that supposedly prevents exposure to the chemicals, the issue is that it does not automatically flush without staff’s assistance.)

it is a problem, Because the system we are presently using does not automatically switch to the primary bag for flushing. If not assisted by the nurse the patient will not receive the full dose of the prescribed TX, and more toxic chemicals go into waste to possibly expose more people. If the nurse assists with the process not only it is more time consuming about three to five minutes per medication when we see an average of 200 patients a day and most will receive more than one medication. From the patient’s point of view, it creates more alarms adding to the already stressful experience and it appear as if the staff is not knowledgeable enough to use the equipment properly.

The change project i am working is to find a system that flushes without staff assistance even though it might have a high cost at the beginning. what are three ethical considerations to consider in this situation.
