Broadcast News Writing

THERE ARE THREE PARTS TO THISASSIGNMENT:

1.  Re-write a newspaper story (fromany newspaper) in broadcast VOSOT style. A sample form is provided for you (Look at the TV News Story Formatssection in the Course Documents section of Blackboard).  Make sure there is at least one quote from anamed source in the newspaper article. Write the script according to the sample.  Your director’s cues are in bold type.  The anchor’s script is typed innon-bold.  Make sure you include runningtimes (you do not have to have exact time on this) plus an accurate outcue onthe quote.  Your lead sentence must bewritten in present, present-perfect, or future tense.  Your story must be written in ALL CAPS anddouble-spaced. The newspaper article must come from material dated from April10, 2015-April 17, 2015. 

2.  Re-write a lead sentence or mainidea of another newspaper story (from any newspaper) in broadcast style anchorpackage lead-in style.  A sample form isprovided for you (Look at the TV News Story Formats section in the CourseDocuments section of Blackboard).  Makesure there are least two quotes from at least two different named sources inthe newspaper article.  Your director’scues are in bold type.  The anchor’sscript is typed in none-bold type.  Youare the reporter so make sure your name is listed as (Your name) reports.  Make sure you include running times (you donot have to have an exact time on this). Your lead sentence must be written in present, present-perfect, orfuture tense.  Your story must be writtenin ALL CAPS and double-spaced. The newspaper article must come from materialdated from April 10, 2015-April 17, 2015.

3.  Re-write the same newspaper story(as used in #2) in broadcast reporter package style.  A sample form is provided for you (Look atthe TV News Story Formats section in the Course Documents section ofBlackboard).  The article must have atleast two quotes from two different named sources.  Your reporter voice tracks do not have to bewritten in present, present-perfect, or future tense.  They may be written in any verb tense.  The first sentence of your reporter packagescript may not be the same as your lead sentence as the anchor package lead-inscript.  Your closing on the story mustread, Your name, Troy Trojan Vision News. Your story must be written in ALLCAPS and double-spaced.
