Why Is It Important To Study Ethics In Statistics Have You Seen Statistics Misu

1. Why is it important to study ethics in statistics? Have you seen statistics misused? Without naming specific companies or people, can you provide examples. Please find (on the Internet) and post an article regarding ethics and statistics. Please attach the article, or provide its link in your post, together with a brief summary of the article in your own words. Be sure to use quotation marks around any words taken directly from the article (not to do so constitutes “plagiarism”).

2. review following response posted by other students and provide him/her with your reflections (don’t just agree or disagree) by using couple sentences.

Like any other field, there are ethics in statistics that need to be followed by a researcher so that only the truth is reported and there is no misrepresentation of the data. Unethical behavior might arise at any point from data collection to data interpretation. I can relate to this in my line of work. If I report something that biased rather the facts, then that person may be wrongfully accused of committing a crime.

Ethics in statistics are very important during data representation as well. For example, a car might be ranked high on comfort but low on safety. By showing only the comfort figures for the car, the company is, in a way, misleading customers about the real picture.”
