Genetics tells us that we have an inherited biological blueprint that includes traits like blood type, eye color, sex, height, and so forth. As remarkable as that sounds, this blueprint can also include undesirable or unwanted traits. The scientific community has developed ways to overcome these “unwanted” traits through genetic engineering.
Many groups believe that genetic engineering is unethical. Opinions regarding the ethics of genetic engineering range from the inhumane treatment of embryonic tissue to the creation of a future “super species.”
